Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:
- Questions remain after a police chase resulted in a man's death in Huntsville. The incident occurred just before midnight on Friday, Jul. 21 with a police chase that began in nearby Jackson County. An officer with the Gurley Police Department pursued a vehicle into the Huntsville city limits at speeds that reached 130 mph. During the chase, the officer collided with a different vehicle, resulting in the death of Matthew Norwood, a 22-year-old from Tomey. (WAFF)
- A Huntsville brewery has announced that it will close at the end of July. Fractals Brewing Project on Leeman Ferry Road attributed the closure to the impacts of the recent pandemic, as well as industry changes and ongoing supply chain issues. In a statement on social media, the brewery thanked its staff, customers, and local partners. (WHNT)
- In case you missed it, next Monday, Jul. 31 is the last day to sign up for the A Cut Above District 1 Summer Landscaping Challenge. This is the second year of the competition organized by Council Member Devyn Keith that seeks to highlight local homeowners. Winners will be selected by mid-August in one of three categories: best landscaping, best curb appeal, and best floral display. To enter your yard in the competition, click here.
