Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:
- Huntsville Utilities is alerting customers to a scam that is currently targeting the utility's customers. The agency says that the scam is based on a phone caller who tells customers that they can activate a discount by giving the caller their banking information. The agency is advising customers to hang up without revealing any personal information. To read more about the scam or how to access the status of your Huntsville Utilities account, click here. - Following recent reports of an alligator killing a family dog, the City of Huntsville is placing additional alligator warning signs in areas where the animals are known to be. New signs have been placed in the Hays Farm community due to a recent increase in alligator sightings. Huntsville Parks and Recreation Director James Gossett said that human-animal interactions will occur as the city grows into areas that were previously uninhabited, and he encourages residents to be aware of their surroundings. - Registration for the Huntsville Parks and Recreation After-School Program will open on Monday, Jul. 10. The program is for students in grades 1-6 in Huntsville City Schools. Beginning on Aug. 7, the after-school program includes snacks, art, indoor and outdoor activities, homework time, and quiet time. Click here to learn more.
