🌱 Second Suspect Arrested In AAMU Shooting + Parks & Recreation Guide

Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:

  1. The Huntsville Police Department has arrested a second suspect in connection with last week's shooting at Alabama A&M University. Christopher Thomas, 20, has been charged with assault. Willie Brandon Nance, 23, was charged with assault on Aug. 23, and both suspects were booked into the Madison County Jail. Investigators described the shooting as an "isolated incident" that was the result of an argument. (WHNT)
  2. The Huntsville International Airport has announced a new art exhibit on display at the Airport Artway. The exhibit is the result of a partnership with Carnegie Visual Arts Center and features art by Sonya Clemons, who is known locally as the "Alabama Art Lady." The airport is hosting a reception today, Aug. 29, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on level two of the airport to celebrate the installation's opening. The event will include live music and the chance to hear from Clemons about her recent work. (WHNT)
  3. In case you missed it, the City of Huntsville has announced the new Parks & Recreation Fall Program Guide is now available. This guide includes a comprehensive list of the city's parks, playgrounds, and recreation centers. The guide also includes information about more than 100 upcoming programs, many of which are free, such as sewing workshops, pickleball groups, and a sensory art class. (HuntsvilleAL.gov)
