Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:
- The Huntsville Planning Commission has approved the development of a Starbucks in downtown. The new Starbucks will be located south of Clinton Avenue and to the west of Heart of Huntsville Drive. Commissioner Kelly Schrimsher raised concerns about traffic flow and access points for the business, saying that the proposed access points on Heart of Huntsville Drive are too narrow. - Aerojet Rocketdyne has announced a partnership with Lockheed Martin to develop an advanced propulsion solution for a type of long-range missile, and some of the work will be happening at the company's Huntsville headquarters. Aerojet Rocketdyne will be creating propulsion systems for the new Long Range Maneuverable Fires missile. The missile's development will happen in four stages, which will include a design stage, flight tests, and collaboration with the U.S. Army’s Strategic and Operational Rockets and Missiles office at Redstone Arsenal. - A Huntsville man is speaking out after an alligator killed his family's dog. The incident reportedly occurred in the Hay's Farm area a short distance from Grissom High School. The man said his two children were outside playing with the family's Golden Retriever when the dog ran through the brush and was attacked by an alligator that the man estimates was 10-15 feet in length. The man is frustrated that neither the city nor neighborhood developers have sent someone out to relocate the alligator. (WAFF)
