Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Today (May 19) at 10:00 a.m., the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new Space Camp Operations Center. The new state-of-the-art facility for Space Camp will serve as a central location for Space Camp programs and a new home for U.S. Cyber Camp. The public is welcome to attend the free ceremony; RSVP here. (WAAY)
  2. Huntsville officials are pushing back the Raymond Jones Community Center renovations in John Hunt Park. Due to supply chain issues, renovations are being delayed, as officials are still awaiting the arrival of electrical components. The new community center will replace the former National Guard armory that closed in 2017, making the space look unrecognizable. New updates include a new roof, HVAC system, and windows. A majority of the center will be dedicated to a fitness area. (WAFF)
  3. The Joe Davis Stadium has officially cut the ribbon. Mayor Tommy Battle joined city officials in declaring the 6,000-seat multi-use arena open. The inaugural Huntsville City FC home game will take place tonight, May 19, at 7:00 p.m. Click the link to view photos. (City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government)
