Authorities allege she’s tied to an accused drug network in Mobile and used phone records to challenge her explanations about trips, including to an NBA game.

2. Coastal Alabama leaders approve 10-year plan to protect local waters (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Mobile and Baldwin County leaders have just approved a 10-year plan to protect and restore Mobile Bay and surrounding coastal waters, guiding projects through 2035. The Mobile Bay National Estuary Program’s new roadmap targets water quality, shoreline and habitat restoration, and resilient growth, while also spotlighting the Mobile-Tensaw Delta and honoring longtime director Roberta Swann’s legacy of local collaboration.

3. 60 doctors have taken course needed to recommend cannabis in Alabama (mynbc15.com) — Medical cannabis dispensaries are expected to open in Mobile as early as March, with one company planning a local storefront and a Mobile radiologist already trained to recommend treatment. Sixty Alabama doctors have completed the required course, but legal challenges have slowed wider participation. Officials say up to 37 dispensaries could eventually operate statewide for patients with qualifying conditions.

Alabama issues $730 million in bonds for west Alabama corridor expansion (cbs42.com) — State officials have approved $730 million in bonds to finish a four-lane highway corridor that will directly connect Mobile and Tuscaloosa, promising faster travel and new economic links for the Port City. The Rebuild Alabama project has sparked debate in Montgomery over using state bonds without federal matching funds, even as west Alabama leaders tout the potential for jobs and industry growth.
