1. Mobile's iconic water feature corroding after costly renovation (mynbc15.com) — Ketchum Fountain in downtown Mobile’s Bienville Square is already corroding, just a few years after a multimillion-dollar renovation of the park. City officials plan to bid a roughly $100,000 project after Mardi Gras to fix the rust and protect the beloved landmark without disrupting Carnival season.

2. Mobile County school board fires Theodore High bookkeeper over alleged discrepancies (fox10tv.com) — Mobile County’s school board has upheld the firing of Theodore High School’s bookkeeper after auditors reported more than a thousand financial irregularities and warned the school might need receivership. Officials say the issues, centered on cash handling and documentation, have already been referred to the Alabama Ethics Commission, while the former bookkeeper plans to explore an appeal.

3. Mobile celebrates reopening of South McGregor Avenue (wkrg.com) — South McGregor Avenue is finally back open in Mobile after more than two years of closures, detours, and construction, complete with a new roundabout at McGregor and Dauphin. City leaders say the fully rebuilt roadway, sidewalks, and utilities should ease congestion in Spring Hill, but they’re urging drivers to slow down as everyone adjusts to the new traffic pattern.

4. HAVE YOU SEEN HER? Mobile County girl reported missing from grandmother's home in Lucedale (mynbc15.com) — Authorities are searching for 17-year-old Kayla Senterfitt, a Mobile County resident believed to be heading toward the Wilmer/Semmes area after disappearing from her grandmother’s home in Lucedale, Mississippi Wednesday evening. She was last seen around 7 p.m. wearing a light blue zip-up jacket, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. Anyone with information is urged to contact the George County Sheriff’s Office immediately.

5. ‘Phones have such a grip on us': Mobile students weigh in after Australia teen social media ban (fox10tv.com) — Students at the Alabama School of Math and Science in Mobile are reacting to Australia’s new ban on social media for teens under 16, sharing how phones and apps affect their mental health and daily lives. The teens say they see clear downsides to constant scrolling and even self-impose limits, yet expect any similar U.S. ban would bring both shock and relief. They’re watching closely as lawmakers, including Alabama’s Katie Britt, debate stricter youth protections online.
