One Dead, Suspect In Custody After Shooting On Billy Bigham Road In Samantha

Here's the latest on a shooting investigation in northern Tuscaloosa County.

SAMANTHA, AL — Tuscaloosa Patch has confirmed that the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a Friday morning shooting that left one person dead in the Samantha community of northern Tuscaloosa County.

Captain Marty Sellers of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit confirmed in an update Friday that a man died as a result of the shooting and that a suspect was in custody.

As Patch previously reported, deputies with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office had a section of Billy Bigham Road, just off of Northside Road, cordoned off Friday morning, with investigators giving special attention to a Chevrolet truck parked in the road.

At least five different yellow evidence markers could be seen around the vehicle but no other details have been released as this time, including the identity of the victim or suspect.
