NORTHPORT, AL — State Rep. Ron Bolton, a Republican from Northport, on Friday formally announced his bid for re-election to his seat representing House District 61.

Bolton, a retired Northport Police captain, is seeking his second term in the Alabama State House after first being elected in 2022.

House District 61 covers the City of Northport and northwest Tuscaloosa County north of McFarland Boulevard, along with the upper half of Pickens County. This house district also includes Carrollton and Pickensville, Gordo, Reform and areas north to Fayette County and west to the Mississippi state line.

Bolton is a longtime member of the Alabama Republican State Excutive Committee and currently serves as a member of the House Public Safety and Homeland Security committee, the House Ethics and Campaign Finance committee, the House Agriculture and Forestry Committee and also currently serves as Chairperson of the Tuscaloosa County House Delegation Committee.

Bolton also serves as a member of the Southern Legislative Conference Energy and Environment committee.

The 2026 primary election is set for Tuesday, May 19, followed by the general Election on Nov. 3.
