Driver Dies After Crashing Into Tree In Vallejo: Police

VALLEJO, CA — The Solano County coroner's office has identified a driver who died in a solo-vehicle crash Sunday in Vallejo as Thomas Weninger, 54, of Vallejo. Officers were called to the scene at 5:08 p.m. and found that Weninger was driving a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder south on Columbus Parkway from Georgia Street when the Nissan left Columbus Parkway near Aragon Street and struck a tree, police Lt. Michael Nichelini said.

Emergency responders tried to save his life but Weninger died at a hospital, Nichelini said.

Police are investigating what may have caused the crash, including looking into whether a medical episode or alcohol or drugs were factors.

The death Sunday was the third crash-related fatality in Vallejo this year, per police.
