Suspicious Benicia Neighborhood Activity Brings 3 Arrests

A suspicious vehicle on Andrew Court stopped for a traffic violation Thursday morning by Benicia Police sped away and crashed, as three ran.

BENICIA - A suspicious vehicle on Andrew Court stopped for a traffic violation Thursday morning by Benicia Police sped away and crashed in a neighborhood as three suspects ran from the car, according to authorities.

Police say shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday, an officer saw a suspicious vehicle on Andrew Court, off Kearney Drive, and stopped the vehicle.

As the officer attempted contact with the occupants of the car, police say the driver tried to speed away.

Benicia Police say the officer was able to stop the vehicle. The three suspects ran from the car. One suspect was immediately caught and arrested.

The other two suspects fled the area, according to police, but were caught after officers set up a perimeter and received tips from witnesses.

The suspects provided conflicting reasons regarding why they were in this particular neighborhood, according to officers.

According to authorities, the three that have been arrested are:

  • 18-year-old Tarell Brown of Martinez, charged for resisting arrest.
  • 19-year-old Tommie Woods of Richmond, charged with resisting arrest, providing a false name and violating his probation
  • 15-year-old juvenile male from Richmond, charged with felony evading and providing a false name to a police officer.
