2 Berkeley Theft Suspects Charged
The suspects were arrested in connection with separate incidents, police said.
BERKELEY, CA — Two theft suspects were charged Tuesday in connection with separate UC Berkeley campus incidents, police said.
Both suspects are men with no campus affiliation, UC Berkeley police said.
A report of an e-scooter theft on Oct. 6 at around 5:45 p.m. from the Recreational Sports Facility led to the arrest of a man on a parole warrant and on suspicion of multiple theft and weapons charges, police said.

An officer who identified the man as a suspect in the e-scooter theft located him at around 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Spieker Plaza on the UC Berkeley campus, police said.
The suspect was found to be in possession of other people's credit cards, narcotics, brass knuckles, bear spray and burglary tools, police said.

Another suspect was arrested on Oct. 6 on a parole warrant on suspicion of felony theft in connection with the theft of a backpack containing a laptop from Jacobs Hall that day, police said.
The victim left their backpack unattended for a short time and returned to find their property had been stolen, police said.
The incident was reported at around 8:15 p.m.
A vigilant staff and an observant victim helped responding officers locate the suspect in the 2500 block of Ridge Road, police said.
Officers recovered some of the victim’s property, police said.
