BERKELEY, CA — A go-to spot for deli sandwiches and roasted chicken is closing up shop in Berkeley, multiple outlets confirmed this week.
The San Francisco Chronicle first reported the pending closure of Poulet on Shattuck Avenue, where the restaurant last week let customers know they would be closing on Friday, July 14, after 43 years in the East Bay. According to The Chronicle, Poulet opened shop in 1979 by a UC Berkeley grad student who found dinner options lacking after class.
As Berkeleyside reports, the restaurant became known for its rustic, European-inspired meals that put a spotlight on chicken and seasonal vegetables, drawing in loyal customers for sandwiches, salads, and other favorites.
