Berkeley Man Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison For Felony Gun Crimes
According to federal prosecutors, a convicted felon fired a gun during an argument outside a liquor store last year.
BERKELEY, CA — A federal judge has sentenced a Berkeley man to 72 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to two felony firearms charges.
Under the plea agreement, prosecutors said Rufus Rogers, 45, admitted to having a gun and ammunition despite being a convicted felon.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Rogers approached a person outside an Oakland liquor store last February while holding a loaded gun. Prosecutors said he followed the person around a corner and started an argument, leading to the other person firing a shot into the air. Rogers responded by raising his gun and firing three rounds at the person.
