Earthquake Rattles East Bay

BERKELEY, CA — A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck Berkeley Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey. The temblor was reported around 9:23 a.m.
The quake's epicenter appeared to be near the UC Berkeley campus, according to the United States Geological Survey. UC Berkeley's Seismology Lab reported that the earthquake had a depth of about 5.8 miles.

People reported feeling the earthquake in Oakland, Emeryville, Concord and as far west as San Francisco, according to the USGS.
The earthquake occurred a few weeks after a 4.3 magnitude quake rattled the East Bay during the early hours of September 22. That quake was felt as far away as Sacramento and Salinas. It was followed by a 3.0 earthquake later that same evening.
