Man Fatally Struck By Car While Crossing I-80 Lanes: CHP

A fatal collision involving a pedestrian snarled traffic on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in the East Bay on Monday night, CHP said.

EMERYVILLE, CA — A fatal collision involving a pedestrian snarled traffic on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in the East Bay on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said that around 10:50 p.m., patrol officers were alerted to a crash on the freeway's lanes near the Powell Street off-ramp in Emeryville. A man was reportedly hit by a car while he tried to cross lanes.

In an advisory on social media, the CHP's Golden Gate Division said I-80's westbound connector to eastbound Interstate Highway 580 and southbound Interstate Highway 880 were shut down due to the crash.
