Man Sentenced For Killing Ex-Girlfriend In Front Of Her Children In Richmond: Prosecutors
The fatal shooting happened in 2017, according to authorities.
RICHMOND, CA — A man has been sentenced for murdering his ex-girlfriend in front of her children in Richmond more than eight years ago, prosecutors said.
Lawyer Dushan McBride was sentenced to 95 years to life in state prison in connection with the fatal shooting of Rashanda Franklin in 2017, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.
McBride had been stalking and harassing Franklin for two weeks after she ended their two-year relationship, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors say Franklin was about to drop her children off at school, but McBride was there waiting for her. Fearing for her safety, Franklin called the police and drove away with her children still in the car, prosecutors said.
While Franklin was driving near the area of 29th Street and Rheem Avenue in Richmond, McBride cut her off and confronted her, prosecutors said.

Franklin pleaded with McBride, saying she had her kids in the car, prosecutors said.
McBride told her, "I ain't playing with you," and then fatally shot her, authorities said.
“This tragic case underscores the devastating reality of domestic violence, which claims far too many lives," Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton said in a statement Friday. "While no verdict can bring back a mother taken from her children in such a senseless act of violence, this sentence provides the victim’s family with a measure of justice and accountability."
