Minimum Wage Rises In Berkeley, Other Bay Area Cities
The minimum wage ticked up in several Bay Area cities this month due to adjust for inflation.
BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley raised its minimum wage to $18.07 from $16.99 on Friday, an increase of around 6%.
The increase comes as a part of an effort that began in 2019 by the city of Berkeley that counters inflation eroding the value of wages.
Beginning July 1, 2019 and on July 1 of every subsequent year, the minimum wage increases by an amount corresponding to the prior calendar year's increase in the Consumer Price Index.
