New Choices For Outdoor Summer Dining In Berkeley And Beyond

The summer solstice is near, and the Bay Area has a few more choices for outdoor dining as the days get warmer and longer.

BERKELEY, CA — With summery days already on deck and plenty of sunshine ahead for the Bay Area in the coming weeks and months, several new arrivals on the dining scene are tailor-made for dining outdoors.

This week, the East Bay Times highlighted nine of the region's newest alfresco destinations, including a Berkeley restaurant and four others in the East Bay.

Farmhouse Kitchen in Berkeley was praised for an outdoor area high above the street "with excellent views of the Bay’s rolling mist and setting sun. There are pretty cloth umbrellas and a glass wind barrier plus heat lamps. Succulents and a vegetable garden add a jungle feel, as do plates featuring geckos and hummingbirds."

Located next to Chez Panisse, Farmhouse Kitchen serves Northern Thai cuisine including Pacific pad thai with scallops and a lobster tail, whole crispy branzino served on a sizzling plate, chicken wings with spicy pineapple sauce, papaya salad, and green curry with eggplant.

It is open daily for lunch and dinner at 1549 Shattuck Ave.

Two restaurants in Lafayette and another two in Danville were also featured.
