Power Outages Hit 6,000 Berkeley-Area Customers
The outages are a combination of weather-related events and public safety power shutoffs.

BERKELEY, CA — Power is currently out to 4,659 Berkeley-area customers, shown in orange on the map, according to PG&E. This is not a public safety power shutoff, but was likely weather-related, as powerful winds blow through the East Bay. There is currently no estimate of when power will be restored. It went out at approximately 1 p.m.
Adjacent PSPS outages, shown in pink, impact more than 1,000 customers. The outage just south of Highway 24 impacts 1,373 customers.
PG&E reports that 23,500 customers are currently without power as strong winds blast through Northern California amidst a Red Flag Warning. About 7,500 Bay Area customers have lost power due to weather issues like downed wires, on top of more than 16,000 in the region already affected by planned public safety power shutoffs. The shutoffs are impacting 2,373 customers in Alameda County

"As forecasted, fierce winds entered PG&E's service area last night, with peak wind gusts observed at 88 mph in St. Helena in Napa County," PG&E said in a release on Wednesday.
PG&E officials said that power should be restored to customers by sometime on Thursday.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning through 7 a.m. Thursday for the Bay Area and Central Coast.
