Rapper LaRussell To Perform At UC Berkeley Before Nationally Televised Football Game
The Bay Area rapper will perform before the Golden Bears take on the University of North Carolina, university officials said.
BERKELEY, CA — Bay Area Rapper LaRussell will take center stage at UC Berkeley next month ahead of a nationally televised football game featuring the Golden Bears, university officials said.
The 'Yankin' rapper and Vallejo native will be at Oski's Village as part of Bay Area Appreciation Day on Oct. 17, according to UC Berkeley officials.
"Cal Athletics is excited to collaborate with LaRussell and bring his high energy to the UC Berkeley campus for Bay Area Appreciation Day," Cal Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing George Brisbon said in a statement earlier this month. "As we continue to represent the entire Bay Area, it is important that we partner with figures like LaRussell who embody Bay Area culture."

The event will be free to attend, with pre-game festivities starting around 4:30 p.m. and LaRussell set to perform at 5 p.m. There will also be an opportunity for fans to meet LaRussell following his performance, university officials said.
The Golden Bears will take on the University of North Carolina in a game that will be televised on ESPN, university officials said. The Golden Bears were off to a hot start in the season, winning three games in a row before losing on the road to San Diego State. On Saturday, they beat Boston College in a close matchup that saw the Golden Bears take the lead in the final minute and close off the game with a game-saving interception.
