Carlsbad Relay For Life Raises More than $75,000 for Cancer Research

The top fundraising individual in Carlsbad was Casey Garness, from Golfing for a Cure, who raised $7,410. The top fundraising team was The Souix Crew, led by captain Stephen F. Baker, which raised $15,010 to this point.

More than 300 participants on 29 teams gathered Saturday through Sunday at Valley Middle School's track to celebrate cancer survivors and those lost, during the Carlsbad Relay for Life. 

The 8th annual event raised more than $75,000 for cancer research. 

On Saturday night, a lumineria ceremony celebrated those who have died from cancer, with small candles placed in paper bags and placed around the track. 

Donations will continue to be accepted through Aug. 31. Information can be found at main.acsevents.org
