We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Carlsbad.

CARLSBAD, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

He is a master artist. He has painted various murals throughout Carlsbad, painted the large chair near the fountain, has been an art commissioner, one of the founders of "Art Splash," and has endlessly volunteered his time and services to the city of Carlsbad.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

Ron has helped young artists become business entrepreneurs. He has volunteered at elementary schools teaching and participating on various art projects. He served as a judge during art contests at different high schools. He has been featured in various local magazines and has been a favorite "Local Legends" in Carlsbad. He is a humble person and deserves to be recognized for his service and volunteerism.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

He is a master artist and has contributed his art throughout Carlsbad.
