SAN MARCOS, CA — A new bakery has opened in San Marcos, the brainchild of Michelin-trained pastry chef and Netflix and FoodNetwork star Christophe Rull. The new Christophe Rull Patisserie will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 251 North City Drive, Suite 121, according to a recent news release. The ribbon cutting was held Saturday, with a line wrapped around the building.

"Guests can expect Chef Christophe’s signature French pastries and breakfast items, blending refined French technique with his creative, approachable style," a spokesperson said.

When you go, try the pull-apart cinnamon rolls, buttery croissants, quiches, and handcrafted macarons, which will headline the menu, served in an inviting café designed by Sangita Wahi of We Design.

"Chef Christophe has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens in France and held top roles at luxury hotels, including Park Hyatt Aviara, where he grew to love San Diego and built a local following, and most recently, Hotel Bel-Air, where he led the pastry program that was ranked 5th on The World’s 50 Best World Class Patisseries list in 2025," they said.

"His work blends classical French training layered with a Southern California point of view. He has won several Food Network competitions, including Halloween Wars and Holiday Wars and was featured in the reality television baking series Bake Squad on Netflix. Earlier this summer, he appeared on Food Network’s new series, Super Mega Cakes, hosted by Duff Goldman.

“Opening this patisserie is very personal,” Rull said. “North City is now home, and I look forward to sharing everything I love about pastry and chocolate not only with San Marcos residents but across San Diego and beyond. The North City community is becoming known for its locally grown restaurants and specialty eateries, and I’m proud to be a part of it. There’s so much more to come.”

Future plans include pastry classes led by Chef Christophe himself, as well as a chocolate program that will highlight his artistic and competitive background in chocolate work.

Andy Tenn, Senior Manager at North City, spoke on the opening.

“Bringing Chef Christophe’s patisserie to North City is a huge win not just for food lovers, but for our whole community,” Tenn said. “He’s a world-class talent, but he's also a neighbor. That mix of quality and authenticity is exactly what we are creating here at North City for the long-term.”
