Chabot Space and Science Center announces its exciting line-up of science fiction films that will screen in the Megadome Theater every Friday and Saturday night in July and August.Â
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) launches the movie season in an end-of-Earth cliffhanger and humpback whales…it’s sci-fi cinematic thrills at its best. Join other Trekkies in reliving the adventures of Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise in this third of the three part trilogy.

The film production was shot on location in the Bay Area, and expresses much of the work of local talent, including Industrial Light & Magic which created the film’s special effects.
It earned four Academy Award nominations in Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, and Makeup. The film was released the same year as the Space Shuttle Challenger, and a poignant dedication appears in the opening credits from the cast and crew.

Guests are encouraged to flaunt their fan status in costume and hang with the Star Fleet elite and the Klingon clan. After the show, enjoy dinner at the Full Circle Café, explore the Center’s evening activities and don’t miss the amazing views of our Universe from Chabot’s renowned Observatory Deck.

All Friday showtimes are 7 p.m.; Saturday showtimes are 8 p.m. Film tickets are $15.95 ($5 for members) and include admission to the Center.
