City Of Hayward Announces Trunk Or Treat Road Closures

The road closures will allow for a safe and fun event Saturday, Oct. 28, city officials say.

HAYWARD, CA — The city of Hayward has announced road closures for its annual Trunk or Treat event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28.

The city, along with AC Transit will close Watkins Street and part of C Street and reroute bus lines down Atherton Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to make space for the return of the always popular event put on by the Hayward Public Library.

"HPL’s Trunk or Treat event returns from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Heritage Plaza across the street from the downtown library this year will be bigger than ever," a news release about the event said. "All are invited. Dress in costume, or come as you are, but fun is guaranteed for all."

This year's event will feature face painting, bubbles, crafts and activities for kids, free food, a car show, a job fair, and of course Halloween treats for kids.

Performances by cheer squads, bands, folklorico dancers, and many other local talented students are scheduled, the release said.

Bay Area Blues musician Aki Kumar will entertain the crowd with his singing, virtuoso harmonica playing, and upbeat fusion of Blues and Bollywood music, which always gets the crowd dancing, the city said.
