Alameda County to Demolish Former Fairmont Animal Shelter

The county-owned building is one of four that is set to come down in the coming weeks.

A former San Leandro animal shelter and it surrounding buildings are set for demolition in the coming weeks according to Alameda County officials.

John Kitching, Deputy Director of Building Maintenance, said it is yet unknown what will go on the count-owned property.

Four wooden buildings will be demolished while the single metal structure will remain.

Kitching said it is a matter of weeks before the buildings come down.
