Deadly Crash On I-580 Blocks All Eastbound Lanes: Sig-Alert

The crash happened in Castro Valley Monday evening at I-580 and 238.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Castro Valley Monday evening, that blocked all eastbound traffic on I-580 at the height of the evening commute.

The first report was received at 6:05 p.m. By 6:45 p.m. a Sig-Alert had been issued and traffic was being diverted off the interstate at 164th Avenue.

The number one and number two lanes reopened around 7:45 p.m. The number 3 and number 4 lanes remained closed at 8:15.
