Dog Killed On East Bay Freeway: CHP
Witnesses said a loose black and white husky was hit by a minivan early Tuesday morning.

HAYWARD, CA — A minivan fatally struck a black and white husky on northbound I-880 just south of Exit 30 early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic log.
At around 6:38 a.m., CHP received multiple reports of a loose dog blocking the middle lanes. Witnesses said that a large black and white husky was hit by a minivan in lane 3. It was confirmed deceased by 6:42 a.m., according to the log. The minivan stopped nearby.
Traffic was temporarily stalled as crews worked to clear the roadway. It is unknown how the dog got onto the roadway or if the owners have been notified.

Traffic is backed up on I-880 near Hayward as of 7 a.m., though no alerts are in effect.
