East Bay Man Continues Winning Streak With $2 Million CA Lottery Jackpot

A Hayward resident landed a $2 million jackpot on a California Lottery "Scratchers," and it's not his first win playing the game.

HAYWARD, CA — A Hayward man is holding a $2 million jackpot win California Lottery scratcher – and it’s not the first time he’s won, CA Lottery announced Friday.

Juan Silva Zarate purchased his jackpot-winning Instant Prize Crossword Scratchers game at a Hayward Chevron gas station, located at 24350 Hesperian Blvd. Over the past year, he’d also won four $1,000 Scratchers, according CA Lottery officials.

"I've won a lot," confirmed Zarate in Spanish, lottery officials announced in a written statement.

Zarate said he plans to use a portion of his winnings to invest. He intends to use the remaining amount to pay off his family's home, the CA Lottery shared.
