Hayward Man Arrested After Alleged Robbery Attempt in Union City

Luis Pantoja, 22, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and criminal threats, according to police.

HAYWARD, CA — A Hayward man was arrested last week in Union City in connection with an attempted robbery, police said Thursday. Luis Pantoja, 22, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and criminal threats, according to police.

Officers responded at 10 a.m. on Oct. 19 to the 1600 block of Decoto Road on a report of an armed robbery.
Police said a male suspect, later identified as Pantoja, entered a store, said he had a gun and presented a note demanding narcotics.

The suspect was not given any and fled the store on foot, but he was located hiding in the laundry room of a nearby apartment complex, police said.
