LaRee Orgill

Former Resident of Castro Valley, March 12, 1921-May 25, 2013

LaRee Orgill was born to John Kerr and Esther Maughan in Wellsville, UT.  She was valedictorian of her high school class and subsequently graduated from Utah State University where she majored in business.  During WWII she applied for work in the Civil Service and worked in Germany during the Nuremburg Trials.  She then transferred to Japan where she was secretary to one of the Army Generals during the Korean conflict.  Later she transferred to Paris where she worked with NATO. She met her husband, Melvin, while living in Paris, where they were subsequently married in 1953.  After leaving government service and returning to the USA, she became a full-time Mom until her children were grown. As a mother of four children, she instilled the importance of education, hard work, service, and dedication to God.

LaRee loved to travel and as a young woman had seen much of the United States, Europe, and Asia. After her children left home, she was fortunate to be able to travel the world again. She appreciated people from a wide range of cultures and loved to visit places of beauty and of historical significance.

LaRee was an accomplished pianist and organist and an excellent seamstress and cook. She served in many capacities in her church and in the community including church organist, youth leader, and PTA President. She was very compassionate and an excellent listener who helped many people.

LaRee is survived by her husband, 2 of her 3 sons, 1 daughter, 1 sister, 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She leaves a great legacy that will be passed onto the following generations. Her positive influence on so many people will not be forgotten.
