• Pleasanton Police Nab Suspect in Storage Unit Burglary Spree, Recover Stolen Goods in Castro Valley (hoodline.com) — Detectives investigating a Pleasanton storage-unit burglary spree searched a Castro Valley home and say they recovered a large cache of stolen items there. A 44-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into Alameda County Jail, while Pleasanton police continue the investigation and urge storage renters to upgrade locks, hide valuables, and promptly report suspicious activity around local facilities.
   

• PG&E CEO promises compensation for massive San Francisco power outage (nbcbayarea.com) — Castro Valley’s own congressman, Eric Swalwell, is calling San Francisco’s massive recent blackout a national security concern after a substation fire cut power to about 130,000 customers. PG&E’s incoming CEO says the cause is still under investigation but promises automatic bill credits totaling about $50 million, while San Francisco officials push for hearings into what went wrong and how to prevent a repeat.
