Man Arrested With Rifle Near Park Playground: Hayward Police
Police seized a loaded AR-style 9mm carbine rifle last week.

HAYWARD, CA — Hayward officers arrested a man who was allegedly armed with a rifle while he was near a park in the city, police said.
Officers were alerted to a report of someone armed with a rifle near a park in north Hayward, police said Thursday. The time and location of the call were not immediately released.
Upon arrival, police found a loaded AR-style 9mm carbine rifle on the ground, wrapped in a blanket near the playground. Police said officers then saw a man walking away from the park who matched the description given by concerned citizens as the person armed with the weapon.

He was detained and witnesses identified him as the same person who was seen with the rifle before officers arrived.
The rifle, which had no serial number, was booked into evidence. The man, whose name was not released, was arrested for various suspected weapons violations, police said.
