Man Killed Father, Dumped Body In Dumpster: Police
Police say the Bay Area suspect, 25, was already in custody for an unrelated crime.
HAYWARD, CA— The body of a missing Hayward was found in a dumpster in Union City. His 25-year-old son has been arrested in the case, according to the Hayward Police Department.
David Sanchez has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his father, according to police.
On October 23, officers responded to the 2000 block of American Avenue in Hayward for a welfare check after family members expressed concern for Sanchez’s father, who had not reported to work or responded to calls. According to police, officers entered the warehouse on American Avenue. They found evidence suggesting a homicide had taken place.

The following day, Hayward detectives were contacted by the Oakland Police Department, which had Sanchez in custody for an unrelated case. Statements Sanchez made during the Oakland investigation led Hayward officers to take custody of him and continue their homicide investigation.
Detectives say Sanchez disclosed the location of his father’s body, which was found in a dumpster on the 33000 block of Central Avenue in Union City.

This marks the 13th homicide in Hayward in 2024.
