Runners And Walkers Welcome At Castro Valley 'Bad Bass' Trail Race
A local race company is holding a trail running event at a popular East Bay park this weekend.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA – The weekend is fast-approaching, and the East Bay forecast is calling for sunny skies and warm temps.
Those looking to spend some quality time outdoors can head to Castro Valley for the “Bad Bass” trail race on Saturday morning. The event, which takes place at Lake Chabot, features three race distance options: a 5K, a 10K and a half-marathon.
Start times are 8:30 a.m. for the half-marathon (13.1 miles), 8:55 a.m. for the 10K (6.2 miles) and 9:10 a.m. for the 5K (3.1 miles). The event also has a “half hikers” option that starts at 7:30 a.m., prior to the running races, giving those preferring to walk the course more time to do so.

Brazen Racing, the Bay Area race company behind “Bad Bass,” puts on a variety of East Bay races each year. “Bad Bass,” per annual tradition, is their late-July race, and it draws a sizable field of runners and walkers on a course route that takes participants around the perimeter of Lake Chabot.
The 5K and 10K are out-and-back courses, and the half-marathon is a loop around the lake. All distances include a mix of paved trails and fire trails.

“All courses include rolling hills that are mostly runnable – except for the climb up Live Oak for the half marathon and 10K that is best power-hiked!,” according to the Brazen Racing team.
The “Bad Bass” course routes will be marked with flour and color-specific course signs, and race water stations will offer water, sports drinks, gels, pretzels, candy and other snacks.
For the Brazen Racing team, running events like “Bad Bass” are not only a great way to stay active and get outdoors but also a means to connect with the community and have fun.
“Nobody cares whether you are fast or slow, young or old, rich or poor, nor your background, your beliefs or anything else that makes people seem different from each other. When you are at a Brazen Racing running event, you’re a Brazen runner and everybody is glad to see you,” the Brazen team confirmed.
“Bad Bass” online race registration fees from July 16 to July 19 are $80.18 for the 5K; $89.79 for the 10K; and $111.14 for the half marathon, plus service fees. Bib pick-up on race morning starts at 6:45 a.m.
