SonRise Equestrian Foundation is a volunteer-based non-profit organization making a positive difference for children ages 6 to 18 living with social, emotional or physical challenges including life limiting illnesses. Participating children develop confidence, integrity and responsibility through mentoring and peer relationships centered around the care and enjoyment of horses.

The organization offers three programs, free of charge to qualified participants: “In the Saddle” is a tailor-made, one-on-one riding program designed to help children improve balance, coordination, muscle tone, concentration, self-confidence and self-esteem as they nurture, groom, and ride horses.

“Team Equine” empowers youth who may be struggling socially by having them work side-by-side with mentors and peers in a working ranch program. “Traveling Tails” is a program connecting miniature horses with children at special-needs schools, camps and hospice care.

All three programs are designed to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, educational, and behavioral goals.

There is currently a waiting list to participate in our programs. Visit www.sonriseequestrianfoundation.org for more information.
