Wells Fargo Donates $250K To Support Financial Empowerment In Bay Area
A total of $1 million will strengthen SparkPoint centers and community resilience programs across California.

SAN FRANCISCO — Wells Fargo is investing $1 million to support financial health and housing stability across more than 30 California counties, including a $250,000 boost for United Way Bay Area’s (UWBA) SparkPoint centers, which offer free financial coaching and essential services to low-income residents.
The donation, announced this spring, will expand financial empowerment and resiliency programs across 12 United Way chapters through tailored local projects.
In the Bay Area, the SparkPoint initiative is a centerpiece of UWBA’s fight against poverty—helping individuals and families create financial plans, access credit counseling, receive tax assistance, and obtain basic needs like food and housing.

“Building pathways to financial prosperity is what we do,” said Keisha Browder, CEO of United Way Bay Area. “Thank you to Wells Fargo for investing in programming that lays the foundation for economic security.”
Gregg Sherkin, SVP of Philanthropy & Community Impact at Wells Fargo, called SparkPoint’s work “life-changing” and said the bank is proud to support programs that help communities thrive. The support comes at a time when 1 in 3 California households struggle to cover basic expenses, according to United Way.
