Youth Hit the Stage for Two Community Plays This Month
Students from the Castro Valley Dramatic Arts Academy will act in two performances on July 20 that are open to the public.

The Castro Valley Dramatic Arts Academy, partnered with drama programs, has been encouraging creativity and enriching the lives of youth around Castro Valley since 2003.
The CVDAA is a non-profit and equal opportunity organization. In addition to offering winter and spring classes, the CVDAA also offers an annual summer
program during which students take part in various classes to help enhance their performances as actors.

These classes students attend during the program take a hands-on approach to learning. Students are always up on their feet learning how to move both on and off stage, how to use the powerful voices they already have, and how to think quickly in an acting situation.
The summer workshop consists of two groups of five-week students: one consisting of middle-school aged students and the other of high school aged students. New to the program this year is a two week session available to anyone between the ages of 9 and 19 to cover the basics of acting.

At the end of the five week programs, students put on a production that they have rehearsed over the course of the five weeks. This year, the CVDAA is proud to present two plays: "Please Silence Your Cell Phones" written by CVDAA’s own Michael Lushington and "Six Characters in Search of an Author" by Luigi Pirandello.
The hard work and dedication of both the students and teachers in the CVDAA’s summer workshop over the course of five weeks will be put to the test at 6 p.m. on Friday July 20 at when both plays will be preformed.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see Castro Valley’s youth put on a live performance!
