8 Hospitalized In Crash Between Bus, Car

Con Fire paramedics and Antioch police responded to the collision involving a Tri Delta Transit bus.

ANTIOCH, CA β€” Seven people were taken by ambulance from the scene of a bus crash Thursday in Antioch, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.

The collision happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Laurel Road near Highway 4, Con Fire said.

In addition to paramedics from Con Fire, officers with the Antioch Police Department responded and found a Tri Delta Transit bus was involved in a collision with a passenger car on Laurel Road at the onramp to eastbound SR-4.

Officers determined the driver of the car accidentally went through the intersection against a red light and collided with the back of the bus.

"Seven passengers on the bus had complaints of pain and were transported by ambulance to local area hospitals," Antioch police said.

The driver of the car was also taken to a local hospital by ambulance for a non-life-threatening injury.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be factors in the crash, and neither the bus nor car was speeding.
