Armed Man Broke Into Bay Area Home, Pointed Gun At Family: Police
Police allege the man pointed a handgun at a mother and one of her young children after forcing his way inside the home.
CONCORD, CA β A man is accused of forcing his way inside a Concord home with a handgun on Memorial Day, causing a woman and three kids to flee, then firing gunshots inside the house.
In a news release, police said a woman called 911 shortly after 6 p.m. Monday to report a man she recognized from the neighborhood had entered her home with a gun. The woman told police the man waved the gun around and pointed it at her and one of her children. Police said the woman was able to distract the intruder and create an opening for her and the three young children to escape the home.
Officers arrived at the scene on Rosebrook Court and confirmed the victims were safe before moving to surround the home and deploy a drone. Investigators heard gunshots coming from inside the house and said the man came outside holding the handgun two hours later. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police said the man claimed he went inside the house because he was being followed by several armed people. Officers did not find evidence to support the claim. Investigators discovered several bullet holes inside the home and found evidence of a small fire.
The Concord Police Department identified the suspect Tuesday as 47-year-old Christian Stuart. He was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying an unregistered firearm, negligent discharge, arson, and cruelty to a child.
