Brentwood: 74 Year Old Speed Races 28 Year Old, Both Lose
A 9 a.m. Monday speed contest in Brentwood between a Honda and a Nissan results in two arrests. One of those arrested is a 74-year-old man.

BRENTWOOD - Two men - an elderly man and a man nearly a half century younger - were arrested Monday morning for engaging in a speed contest that resulted in a crash in Brentwood, according to police.
About 9 a.m. Monday, a 74-year-old Brentwood resident and a 28-year-old Antioch resident began a racing after a red light turned green on Sand Creek Road at OβHara Avenue, according to Brentwood Police Lt. Sal DiMercurio.
As the older manβs Honda S2000 was speeding alongside the younger manβs Nissan 350Z, he had to make a sudden lane change because of a crew working in the median in front of him, DiMercurio said.

As he did so, he crossed in front of the other motorist and was broadsided, causing both vehicles to spin out of control.
The Honda came to rest on a dirt shoulder while the Nissan was launched into the air and flipped as it entered an embankment near the Marsh Creek Trail, DiMercurio said.
