Concord Measure V Oversight Committee Seeks Applicants

CONCORD, CA — The City Council recently announced a recruitment for the Measure V Oversight Committee to fill three openings, consisting of two Concord resident positions and one position from either the business community or a Concord resident, for four-year terms ending December 31, 2027. The deadline for applications to the City Clerk is Friday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m.

The Measure V Oversight Committee fulfills two areas of responsibility each of the years that the Measure V 1% rate use and transaction tax is collected:

• Review the City's annual audit report, including the Measure V tax revenue and expenditures; and
• Provide recommendations to the City Council on the use of Measure V revenue.

The Committee produces a report that records the results of its review of the City's audit and its recommendations for expenditure of the revenue generated from the tax.

To keep Concord residents and business owners apprised of how the City is investing Measure V funds, staff recently compiled and mailed the second annual Measure V update, highlighting a variety of projects that have been made possible with this funding.

Measure V, which generates about $32 million annually, is the one-cent use and transaction tax approved by voters in November 2020.

The update features information about major construction projects, a map of upcoming roadwork, and an update on the development of City's homeless strategic plan. It was mailed out on Sept. 25, 2023.
