Later this evening, Concord will have a new mayor.

The Concord City Council will be reorganized during Tuesday evening's meeting, with the swearing in of a new council member, Edi Birsan, and the re-dedication of incumbent Dan Helix's seat.Β

Current Vice Mayor Bill Shinn will be leaving the council, and the position of mayor will be taken from Ron Leone and given to one of the other council members. The new mayor and vice mayor will be decided by the council during the meeting.

Presentations will be given in honor of Shinn and Leone, and community members will have an opportunity to speak. Shinn announced back in the summer that he would not seek re-election due to health issues.

Birsan and Helix will then take the oath of office. This will be Birsan's first public appointment, and Helix's fourth term on the Concord City Council.
