County Offers Free Breast Exams for Uninsured Women

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Contra Costa Health Services will provide screenings and mammograms at four centers, including Concord, for the first 40 women who visit on Thursday, Oct. 25.

AsΒ Breast Cancer Awareness MonthΒ draws to a close, Contra Costa Health Services is offering a day of free breast exams and mammograms for uninsured women.

The exams will be provided to the first 40 women to arrive between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at one of the four participating health centers on Thursday, Oct. 25.Β

  • Philip Dorn Respite Center inΒ Concord
  • ContraΒ Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez
  • Pittsburg Health Center in Pittsburg
  • West County HealthΒ Center in San Pablo.

Women will be offered groupΒ discussion regarding wellness and cancer prevention while they await screenings, plus informationΒ about a clinical trial focused on breast cancer prevention using Vitamin D, according to Contra Costa Health Services.

There will also be healthy food to sample, as well as recipe ideas, cookbook giveaways and exercise tips.
