Multiple Injury Crash Cleared: Hwy 4 in Concord Now Open

Five people were taken to a hospital after a collision this morning on state Highway 4 in Concord.

The six-vehicle collision was first reported at 5:54 a.m. on Highway 4 near Willow Pass Road, according to the California Highway Patrol and Fire Marshal Robert Marshall.

Ten people were injured but five declined to be taken to a hospital.

The five who refused transport were treated by paramedics and released, Marshall said. He did not know the extent of the injuries of the five who went to the hospital.

Fire officials initially said as many as seven people had been taken to the hospital.

The collision caused an extensive backup on Highway 4 and side roads.

Two lanes of the highway were blocked and reopened just after 7 a.m.

CONCORD - All lanes of westbound state Highway 4 in Concord have reopened this morning after a crash involving several vehicles there, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on the highway near Willow Pass Road just before 6 a.m., according to the CHP.

The CHP reported several vehicles were involved, and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District reported seven patients were transported to the hospital.

At least two lanes of the roadway were blocked but had reopened by just after 7 a.m., CHP officials said.

CONCORD, CA- The California Highway Patrol this morning is reporting a serious crash on westbound state Highway 4 in Concord. The crash occurred on the highway near Willow Pass Road, according to the CHP.

The CHP is reporting several vehicles are involved, and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is reporting seven patients are being transported to the hospital. At least two lanes of the roadway are currently blocked.

The crash was first reported at 5:56 a.m.
