Fiesta La Ballona Pushed To October For Halloween Weekend
The Culver City celebration usually happens in the summer, but was canceled last year.

CULVER CITY, CA — Fiesta La Ballona will push its event, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic, back to October just in time for Halloween.
The Culver City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department said the event will take place on Friday, Oct. 29, and Sunday, Oct. 31, instead of during the summer for this year only, according to organizers. The event will be held at its customary location, Veterans Memorial Park at 4117 Overland Ave.
"Fiesta La Ballona is one of Culver City’s longest-running traditions," Culver City Mayor Alex Fisch said in a statement. "Although the event is typically held in the summer, this year we’ll be able to enjoy the celebration with a Halloween twist!”

Fiesta La Ballona is the city’s annual celebration of Culver City and its community, started in 1951, according to the event's website. Originally, the event was a week-long celebration of the region’s early settlers and heritage, with people dressing up as cowboys, Native Americans and other characters from the city’s past. Over the years, the celebration has added other activities and attractions.
“Residents can look forward to the popular carnival rides and games, live music and dance performances, a diverse variety of food vendors, a beer & wine garden, craft and retail shopping areas—plus local community and non-profit booths," the city said of this year's celebration. "PRCS will also incorporate new fall-themed activities, including pumpkin carving and costume competitions, Halloween décor, trick-or-treating on Sunday—and more!”

The department is inviting community members to suggest a tagline that would give the “once-in-a-lifetime” event a fall flair. Email Fiesta.LaBallona@CulverCity.org with suggestions by Aug. 6.
