• Dr. Spano, Villela and Garner Named to Tournament of Roses Honor Band & Directors' Band (culvercitycrossroads.com) — Culver City High School is celebrating as AVPA band students Jasper Garner and Octavio Villela, along with director Dr. Tony Spano, earn coveted spots in the Tournament of Roses Honor and Directors’ Bands. Locals can cheer them on at a free “Friends and Family” performance Dec. 27 at Pasadena City College, then watch them march in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. 
• Jack Black Says You're Counting Jumanji Wrong — The Next Sequel Is Actually Number Five (scorpiolikeyou.com) — Culver City gets a fun shout-out here as the place where the original Jumanji premiered back in December 1995, just before its nationwide release. • As it tries to cool neighborhoods, Long Beach seeks to sharpen its ban on some artificial turf (lbpost.com) — Culver City is cited as one of the California cities already using stricter rules on artificial turf, as Long Beach considers tightening its own ban to cool neighborhoods and add trees. Long Beach officials are weighing enforcement, costs, and incentives to replace plastic parkway turf with real landscaping, especially in hotter, disadvantaged areas. The outcome could influence how other cities, including Culver City, refine their approaches.
