DANVILLE, CA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.
This submission comes from Don Carter who nominated Max of Danville. Don played football with Max before he died of a fatal accident at 17.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?
He was practicing spring foot ball against Hargrave Military he was in my position when he made a tackle and fractured his spin and died several weeks later in Memorial Hospital. His name was Max Campbell he was 17 yo.

He was wise and a friend
