3 Fremont Schools Make AP Honor Roll

FREMONT, CA — Mission San Jose, Irvington and American high schools in Fremont were named to the AP School Honor Roll, a new designation given to schools that show a commitment to maximizing college readiness.

They were three of 4,570 schools around the country that made the honor roll. Mission San Jose High School earned Platinum status, while American and Irvington each earned Gold.

The award was created in October 2023 to recognize schools that “reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.”

The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

To be recognized, schools needed to fulfill the following metrics —

• 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school
• 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam
• 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school, at least one of which was taken in 9th or 10th grade.
